My APK FAQs

1. What do the system and non-system app mean?
System app means the app that is pre-installed on the firmware.
Non-system app means the app that user installs it. It could be from Play store, Amazon store or any third party stores or from Unknown source (directly install *.apk file)

2. Some app does not have installed date or updated date. Is this a bug?
No, it is not a bug. Actually, some system apps have an invalid installed date or updated date.

3. How do I enable multiple selection mode?
When you are in the list (not in search screen), press and hold an item until the colorful tick appeared.
Tips: when you are already in this mode. Click search function to quickly find your desired app

4. How do I share many app's links to my friends?
To share multiple app's links, you must be in the multiple selection mode.
Click the Options and Share Play store link. My APK then generates the app links even for the apps that do not exist on Play store.

5. Could I launch an app from My APK?
Yes, in the detail screen, click the app icon at the top center to launch that app.

6. I can't launch some apps. It says "No openable intent found". What should I do?
If you get this message when trying to open an app. Then you can not open it because this app is not designed to be openable/interactable. Most of the system apps can not be launched this way.

7. Could I modify an installed app?
No, it is a very cool feature though.

8. Why does My APK need Storage permission?
My APK needs Storage permission to write exported apps to external storage. This permission is used to read/scan the local apk files as well.

9. Does My APK support backup and restore app data?
No. It does not at the moment

10. What is a ASPK file and how to open it?
An ASPK file (Android Split Package) is a custom Android package file format used to backup and install application on Android Lollipop+. More information about ASPK file can be found here.

  1. Hello, I am using MyAPK to extract and save APK files from apps that I have installed from the Google Play store. The main purpose is to save a backup before updating the app in case the update breaks features. If that happens, I uninstall the app and then install the older version that I save with MyAPK. This works well for some apps, but for others it does not work - I get an error "App not installed". Do you have any thoughts while this may not work for some apps?
